Kate Connal

I am an educator and literacy advocate working with the SJU Reading Revolution Corps at Saint Joseph’s University. In my role, I work closely with university tutors, local schools, and families to expand access to high-quality literacy support for elementary students. I help coordinate tutoring partnerships, mentor student tutors, and support the delivery of individualized, evidence-based reading instruction focused on foundational skills such as phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension. Through the SJU Reading Revolution Corps, Saint Joseph’s University students provide structured literacy tutoring to young readers while gaining meaningful, hands-on experience as they prepare for careers in education. I am passionate about supporting both sides of this work—helping children build confidence and develop strong reading skills while guiding future educators in effective literacy instruction.
